Aschenputtel

Read this tale aloud, or read along with your little one. Sentences are short and the words are simple.

Once a girl had a cruel stepmother. She had two daughters. They were unkind.

The girl was kind. They made her work hard. She sat by the fire.

They called her Cinderella. One day the prince had a ball. The stepsisters went.

Cinderella could not. She wept. A fairy came.

She said: go to the ball. She made a dress from a pumpkin. She gave her glass shoes.

Cinderella went. She danced with the prince. She ran away.

He could not find her. She lost a shoe. He tried it on every girl.

Only Cinderella could wear it. The shoe fit. They were married.

And they lived happily ever after.
