Der Froschkönig

Read this tale aloud, or read along with your little one. Sentences are short and the words are simple.

Once there was a pretty princess. She had a gold ball. She played by a deep pond.

Her ball fell in the water. A frog said: I can get it back. The princess did not like the frog.

But she said yes. The frog got the ball. He said: now I will live with you.

The princess ran away. The next day the frog came to the castle. The king said: you must keep your word.

The princess let the frog eat from her plate. The frog wanted a kiss. The princess did not want to.

She picked him up. He was so ugly. She threw him against the wall.

The frog turned into a prince. He was kind and tall. They got married.

And they lived happy ever after.
