Brüderchen und Schwesterchen

Once a brother and sister played by the well. The brother fell in. A little deer came.

It drank the water. The deer was kind. It took the brother away.

The sister walked far. She came to a small house. Inside were little beds.

She lay down. The deer came back. It licked her hand.

She lived with the deer. The deer went to town. The brother had a drum.

It played by the fire. One day the drum was missing. The boy went to find it.

He came to the witch's house. The witch said: I will give you gold. But you must help.

The witch made him chop wood. He did it. The witch said: more gold.

He worked more. At night the witch came. He took an axe.

He cut off her head. The deer came back. The sister was inside.

She came out. They all went home. They lived happy ever after.
