Rapunzel

Read this tale aloud, or read along with your little one. Sentences are short and the words are simple.

Once there was a man and wife. They wanted carrots from the witch's garden. The wife ate some.

The witch found out. She said: I will take your baby. The baby came.

The witch took her. She named her Rapunzel. Rapunzel had very long hair.

The witch shut her in a tower. She climbed up by her hair. One day a prince heard her sing.

He came to the tower. He called: Rapunzel, let down your hair. She did.

He climbed up. They became friends. They met every day.

The witch found out. She cut off Rapunzel's hair. She sent her away.

The prince came. He fell from the tower. He was blind.

He walked in the woods. He found Rapunzel. Her tears fell on his eyes.

He could see again. They went home. And they lived happy ever after.
