Das tapfere Schneiderlein

Read this tale aloud, or read along with your little one. Sentences are short and the words are simple.

Once a tailor killed seven flies. He made a belt. It said: seven with one blow.

He went out. He met a giant. The giant said: I am strong.

I can lift a tree. The tailor said: I can lift more. He lifted a cheese.

The giant could not. Then they ran. The giant fell.

The tailor tied him to a tree. Then the giant showed him a bear. The tailor said: I have a friend too.

He showed the bear cheese. The bear ran away. The tailor came to a town.

The king said: catch two giants. The tailor did it. He sat in a tree.

The giants came. He threw an apple. It hit one.

Then another. They hit each other. They fell.

The king was happy. He gave the princess to him. And the tailor lived happily ever after.
