(The Old Grandfather and His Grandson)
Read this tale aloud, or read along with your little one. Sentences are short and the words are simple.
Once there was an old grandfather. He was old. He could not see well.
His hands shook. He could not eat well. His son said: father cannot eat at the table.
They made him eat by the stove. They gave him a wooden bowl. The little grandson saw this.
He said: father, I will keep your bowl. The father said: why? The boy said: when you are old.
The father understood. He took the grandfather back. They all ate together.
And they lived happily ever after.
