Die drei Schlangenblätter

Read this tale aloud, or read along with your little one. Sentences are short and the words are simple.

Once a rich man had a sick son. The son went to sea. He was sick on the way.

He died. The king of the land helped bury him. Then the king's daughter said: come with me.

She went to his grave. Three leaves grew on it. She made tea from them.

The young man drank. He lived again. They went home.

The king was happy. He said: I will give her to you. Then the king said: do not let her drink again.

They went on a ship. The young man wanted more wine. He gave her the drink.

He thought it was tea. She drank too much. She died.

The young man was sad. He sat by her body. He made tea again.

She drank. She lived again. The leaves were dry.

He made more tea. He kept her warm. She opened her eyes.

And they lived happily ever after.
